Lisa and I saw Yaz at LA’s Orpheum Theater on Tuesday night. Seeing Vince Clarke live was a great experience..after listening to his work with Depeche Mode and Erasure for over 25 years. Allison Moyet’s deep vocals were strong and the two of them played all of their songs from the 18 month period they worked together. They each had separate stage platforms to perform from and an LED grid behind them that could display both chunky flat graphics and full video, you could also see through these grids, exposing columns of neon light behind them. A very nice minimal set that provided a lot of variety. The 8 minute version of “Sitaution” with Vince speaking “Move Out” into his vocorder while Allison danced and sang forcefully was the highlight of the show.
